Written by a group of friends all living in the Boston area. We aren’t ladies who lunch, we’ve got jobs & kids and budgets, but we know a good wine when we taste it. We also love to cook, and occasionally even visit a fancy restaurant or two. Here, then, is a record of our favorite (and sometimes disastrous) recipes, as well as the wines that make it all better in the end. Enjoy!
The authors are three women:
I’m a thirty-something mother of a 3-year-old girl (Double-shot) and 14-month-old boy (Lil’ Nip) and I like to, um, imbibe. I’m partial to big reds – shiraz, zinfindel, cabernet – but I’ll drink just about anything with an alcohol percentage in a pinch. Lucky for me, I’m married to Sober Dad, who is a creative cook and passionate papa, as well as a pretty darn reliable designated driver. When I’m not parenting, cooking or drinking, I can be found working on my novel, a task which usually involves downloading new songs from i-tunes and checking to see if any of my friends have updates on facebook.
I’m a thirty something Southern transplant living in the Boston Area.
I’m mom a 4 year old daughter (Mudslinger) and 1 1/2 year old son
(Mudpuppy). Needless to say, we spend our days making a mess. At the
end of the day, after my husband (Mudhoney) and I have finished cleaning up the
day’s clutter, I enjoy relaxing with a glass of wine. I find
full-bodied, warm reds comforting during the long, New England winter.
When warmer weather finally emerges, I can appreciate a bright, crisp
white, especially as an accompaniment to oysters on the half shell (I
just drooled a little bit).
I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen, growing my own food, and I’m
trying to get back into my ceramics studio after a long hiatus. I also
love live music. I can think of nothing better than losing myself in a
good live show. Oh, and then there’s chocolate….
I am a single thirty-something Southern lady living in the Boston area. I have a not-so-subtle Southern accent made worse when imbibing, and imbibe I do, with the passion of a hobby outside the hours of my full time job. My favorite wines — red, earthy, juicy, and creamy with a fine finish — lead me to daydream about ways to turn my ancestral Southern land into a vineyard. Mostly indiscriminate in my choice of wines, I shy away only from dessert wines. It seems my non-existent sweet tooth has been reassigned to cheesy, salty, and savory with wine for the remaining 25. The one thing that will make me put down the wine bottle is a live band. It is hard to rock out with a wine glass in your hand. I love to read so send me your book list, please. Lastly, I enjoy being a daughter, sister, friend, and a crazy aunt to about 9 nieces and nephews that are not really blood related, but please don’t tell them. Cheers!

Hi there,
This is Naomi, the kooky Jewish girl (though that probably doesn’t narrow it down) from the Prism event. It was a pleasure to meet you tonight. Let me know if you ever need some extra company for a battle of the bottles!
