Well folks, we did it. We battled some Rosé just in time for the summer’s end. Rosé has had a complicated position here at Wine Among Friends. I compromise with Rosé in the summer because it is cold and still has elements of red wine. Mudpie doesn’t enjoy Rosé that much as noted in this post. I think Drunk Mama feels the same as I do except she would choose white over Rosé as she doesn’t need to compromise. This summer, we each found Rosés we enjoyed, but we were never at a consensus. We decided to battle it out and see what would happen.

The scene: Drunk Mama’s house with Cellar Roomie as a special guest! Cellar Roomie wanted to participate because she normally doesn’t drink wine and therefore doesn’t do the Wine Among Friends thing. However, Cellar Roomie does do pink. To quote her notes from the battle “I heart pink! OMG Sparklez Rainbowz!! Glitter!! ♥♥♥ Heart!” Whew, yep I share an apartment with her and no, there are no sparkly things in the house.
As per usual the food was rocking good. There was a Portobello mushroom omelette, homemade humus, St. Andre triple cream (should be illegal), bread, vegan lemon bars (put up that recipe Drunk Mama!), and strawberry shortcake with chocolate sprinkles. The sprinkles were for Drunk Mama and not Cellar Roomie. She does sparkles not sprinkles. Huge difference.

Put paper bags around the bottles and used wine glasses that did not show the color of the wine.
We had to cover the bottles with paper bags and use colored glasses because the color of the Rosés were so different that it wouldn’t have been a true blind taste test. We definitely missed the view. Enjoying the color of the wine is so important!
To review the battle rules: Round One is a blind taste with no food and NO TALKING. Round Two is a blind taste with food and still no talking. Round Three the jig is up and we talk. We also try to declare an overall winner but as you will soon see this is usually impossible.
